2Test VM - xppro - Windows XP Professional

5Setup:
6 - Configure a VM t-xppro1 with default Windows XP settings. 2 GB or more disk.
7 - Make sure PAE is disabled.
8 - Make sure networking is NAT.
9 - Install Windows XP Pro.
10 - Create a user 'test' without a password.
11 - Disable non-windows-logo signed driver popups:
12 - Start menu -> Right-click on "My Computer" -> Select Properties.
13 - Go to the Hardware tab and press the Driver Signing button.
14 - Select the "Ignore - Install the software anyway and don't ask for my
15 approval" radio button.
16 - Make sure "Make this action the system default" is checked.
17 - Ok both dialogs.
18 - Redo from start to verify that it actually changed.
19 - Complete disable windows update:
20 - Start menu -> Right-click on "My Computer" -> Select Properties.
21 - Go to the Automatic Updates tab.
22 - Select the "Turn off automatic updating" radio button.
23 - Ok the dialog.
24 - Disable automatic reboot on STOP, make it write a
25 dump:
26 - Right click on "My Computer", select "Properties" and go to the
27 "Advanced" tab and press the "Startupp and Recovery" button.
28 - Make sure the "Time to display list of operating systems" is 1.
29 - Uncheck "Automatically restart".
30 - Select "Kernel memory dump".
31 - Check "Overwrite any existing file".
32 - Ok both dialogs.
33 - Redo from start to verify correctness.
34 - Disable CD autorun. Follow these instructions:

36 - Disable driver search on Windows Update (will fail bitching about
37 unsigned/unknown publisher of iuident.cab, because we're getting
38 redirected when doing v4 update accesses):
39 - Run/start gpedit.msc.
40 - Navigate to User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System.
41 - Change "Configure driver search locations" to "Enabled" and check
42 the "Don't search Windows Update".
43 - Change "Windows Automatic Updates" to "Disabled".
44 - Proceed as shown in readme_first.txt
