Is this a self-compiled Linux kernel? Also I would like to have a look at the vboxdrv.ko module, please attach this module to this ticket.

Replying to frank:

Yes, it's a self compiled kernel using GCC 4.7.4 (vanilla unpatched version from http://gcc.gnu.org/ ).

It seems to fail here. Never seen this before. Could you try a standard kernel?

What's more standard than a vanilla kernel? I'm wondering. Is it possible that his bug is some sort of hardware failure?

I don't know. So far I didn't see similar reports and I also cannot reproduce the problem locally.

I guess this bug report could be given the lowest priority or closed altogether, because I've upgraded to kernel 4.5.1/VBox 5.0.18 and I cannot reproduce this bug any longer.

Perhaps, I will get back to it (if that's advisable), but there's enough information to quite easily debug it.

Compile GCC 4.7.4 (vanilla, i.e. without patches) - might be downloaded from here; sha256.

Compile kernel 4.4.5 (vanilla) with my configuration.

Compile VBox 5.0.16 modules.

Have a kernel panic.
