MacOS Sierra 10.12 "The installation failed"

2. Open dmg
3. Install
4. Installation fails

Attempted to install latest dev build VirtualBox-5.1.5-110277-OSX.dmg with same result.

In my experience I get this exact error if I have VMware Fusion installed. If I remove VMware Fusion (using AppCleaner) then I am able to successfully install VirtualBox.

I've tried both VirtualBox 5.1.6 and 5.1.7.

This was not an issue prior to installing macOS Sierra.

Note that successfully installing VirtualBox also prevents VMware Fusion from running, similar to the issue caused by having VMware Fusion installed first. See the following for info on that issue:

I got the exact same error, but I don't have VMware Fusion installed. I do have VMware automatically installed, are there any relationship?
