Description
After Upgrade from 6.0.12 (used the GUI/HidLedsSync workaround) to 6.0.14 my mac panics when starting a windows 10 vm.
Downgrade to 6.0.12 was the solution for me to continue to work.

I have a kernel panic with a trap at address 0xffffffa3df0b9f56, exactly like the original poster.
The following is not required to reproduce the bug:
- Windows 10 guest, because my guest OS is HassOS 2.12
- macOS Catalina host, because my host OS is macOS Mojave 10.14.6
- Cold-booting a VM, because my panic occurs when restoring the VM state
The panic happens consistently if I attempt to restore the same state on the same VM.
Possible hint: The panic is not instant. The VM runs fine for a couple of seconds. The problem is likely to be in an event handler.

It's not clear to me whether this is a regression or not. I recently upgraded to VirtualBox 6.0.14, but the HassOS image is also recent, so neither can be eliminated as the cause.

I am facing this kind of panic with Catalina and virtualbox 6.1.0 with Windows 10 64 bit guest

Replying to ambarroy:
I am facing this kind of panic with Catalina and virtualbox 6.1.0 with Windows 10 64 bit guest
I have attached crash logs from my system and some further notes.
Here are some more info: OS: macOS Catalina 10.15.2 VirtualBox version 6.1.0 Virtualbox guest addons have been added to this VM.
Some additional notes:
- The problem happens whenever i try to restart any of the Windows 10 64 bit VMs after system wakes up from sleep.
- If i start the VM post a fresh restart, then this does not happen.
- The crash happens a few seconds after windows runs and after I see the Windows Logo and the startup progress animation.
- I have tried this with 2 Windows 10 VMs that have been setup as a fresh install.
- Seamless mode does not work on either of the VMs.
- The problem has been described nicely here: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=95152

I have updated the kernel panics zip file to contain 4 more examples of the kernel panic.
In addition, i have noticed that sleep does not make a difference and the crash affects Windows 10 32 bit guests and also A Ubuntu Server 18.04 64 bit guest.
The problem is almost repeatable if I start one of the Windows guest OSes soon after system restrarts post a kernel panic or if it wakes up from sleep.
Doing a headless start does not seem to induce this bug. For now I am going to use the headless start + ssh or rdp to run my virtual machines.

Am adding gist of what was on forum. New 2019 iMac with latest public Catalina OS, Latest public VB 6.1, and Win 10 guest vm patched current. When starting VM the initial Win logo and spinning dots just makes an appearance then the Mac resets with the kernel panic message. When restarted you can get to the trace logs (as others have posted ad nauseum). Usually after a panic/reboot the vm will start successfully and run but the gui is quite sluggish and will eventually slow to the point where it makes better sense to shut down the vm and restart. It's a roll of the dice whether it will panic on restart, but I've started closing all mac apps as a precaution since it seems to panic if I let my guard down. Changing the display driver had no affect, but I was suspicious about power settings and set everything (mac and win) to never go to sleep or power off (where possible). Hasn't stopped it from happening. I usually run the vm in full screen and haven't tried windowed, but I'm guessing others have and am not sure that matters.
I can't "force" it to break. It just decides on it's own when it's had enough then it's harikari time.

Additional kernel panic log from another user.

Seeing this exact behaviour too, I don't dare to use VirtualBox at the moment since it causes a kernel panic every time. Attaching a kernel panic log.

I upgraded to 6.0.14 today on my Catalina MBP and created a new Ubuntu 18.04 LTS VM with 1 guest CPU. I used the VM for several hours without problems. I stopped the VM, changed it to have 4 CPUs and my mac paniced. Restarted my mac and the guest and paniced again. Restarted my mac and changed the guest to have 1 CPU and I am able to stably run the guest again.
Hope this may point towards the cause.

Attached my KP.
Issue persists in VB 6.1.0 when starting a Win7 64-bit guest under Mojave 10.14.6.
Confirmed OP's fix of downgrading VB to 6.0.12 after doing a proper uninstall.

Another discussion in the forums about the same kernel panic and with further diagnostic information: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=95306

Hi, I have additional information that might help pinpoint the issue, I did a lot of tests and I have found a workaround. It is the following starting the VM (Oracle Linux 7) in headless mode then doing a show to get the GUI allows that guest OS to start without kernel panics.

Summary: | 6.0.14 panics MacOS 10.15 Catalina → 6.0.14 panics MacOS 10.15 Catalina => fixed in 6.0.16/6.1.2 |
Please try with the latest 6.0.16 and 6.1.2 release. We fixed an issue there which looks like the ones you are encountering. Please reopen if this still occurs with the latest version and attach new crash reports from OS X + new VBox.log from the respective runs.

Hi I can confirm that the kernel panic bug on macOS with starting a VM is corrected under version 6.1.2. Thanks 100X Jean-François Brodeur
if you need the mac ips crash report, let me know by email....
