Description
USB passthrough to two scanners in a Windows 7 VM has worked in openSUSE VirtualBox until the "dup" update to the 20240202 snapshot. (An unusually large update, that included an update to glibc 2.39) It now no longer works, with a 'cannot communicate with the scanner' error in Windows 7.
openSUSE VirtualBox maintainer Larry Rainey suggested that I file a bug report here. The related openSUSE support message:
USB passthrough to these scanners in the Windows 7 VM is still working properly in openSUSE Leap 15.5, with VirtualBox 7.0.12.
I am attaching the log file.

In openSUSE Tumbleweed, at least, this issue has been fixed with the current 20240223 Tumbleweed snapshot. The underlying problem is described in full at: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1219766 .
