Ubuntu 10.04 - Hangup when a monitor goes detached
Reported by: | Martin Wildam | Owned by: | |

Description (last modified by )
When at least one (Windows) guest is started and a second monitor is turned off via xrandr (which might also happen when you detach a beamer or external monitor), the host system completely freezes.
Don't know if it happens with other guests too, but I could reproduce the hangup several times using an external monitor and turning off the built-in laptop monitor using:
xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1680x1050 --rate 60 --primary --output LVDS1 --off --output TV1 --off --output VGA1 --off --output HDMI2 --off --output DP1 --off --output DP1 --off --output DP2 --off --output DP3 --off
To make the external monitor the only active.

I made additional tests: A manual
did not make it hangup, maybe it is one of the other parameters.
Also tested shutting down guests, but leave VirtualBox started and run the full command (as from my first post) and it hung up then (you need then to switch off Computer totally. Restart-X does not work, CTRL+ALT+DELETE not, nothing.
