REGRESSION: can't install windows 7 on a VM from host CD/DVD drive: misses driver

Description
I have created a VM on a Linux host in VB 4.1.10 and selected Windows 7 64bit as the machine type. I have created a vdi for the hard disk and attached the host's CD/DVD driver as the CD/DVD driver for the VM.
I have a Windows 7 64bit genuine installation DVD. I start the VM and try to install windows from this DVD, but within the first steps of the installation process it says that it is missing a driver for the CD/DVD unit, and asks me to browse for a driver that of course I don't have and that it cannot find in the installation DVD itself.
Note that I had previously installed the very same OS from this very same installation DVD on a VM on the very same host, with a previous version of VB.
So there is some regression that is preventing the guest Windows system to recognize the DVD drive.

Which version of VirtualBox did you use before when this installation worked well? I never saw such a report about a missing driver somewhere else, sorry for asking, but are you sure that you are using an original Microsoft installation DVD?
