#10575 closed defect (fixed)
Triple buffering (on host) causes display curruption inside Windows guest using WDDM
Reported by: | Quad5Ny | Owned by: | |
---|---|---|---|
Component: | WDDM | Version: | VirtualBox 4.1.14 |
Keywords: | Tripple buffer, WDDM, Aero | Cc: | |
Guest type: | Windows | Host type: | Windows |
Description
Triple buffering causes display corruption on guest machines using the WDDM driver. This is most apparent while using a the Windows Aero theme on a guest.
Users may enable Triple buffering in their graphics control panel and and not realize that is the reason the VirtualBox is not displaying correctly.
Note: As far as I can tell this effects all VirtualBox releases that have WDDM support.

Attached 2 Logs; VBox_A.log is w/ Triple buffering on, VBox_B.log is w/ Triple buffering off.
Both have the VM powering on, loading Windows 7 with WDDM driver and then powering off.

Installed Ubuntu 11.10. Unity 3D and Compiz effects seem to work just fine with Triple Buffering on.

This should be fixed with VBox 4.3. Please give it a try and re-open this ticket if needed.
Please also attach a VM log file here. Does this happen for Linux guests with 3D desktop (compiz, whatever) enabled as well?
