Description
I ran into an error that read "Error opening file for reading: Permission denied" when trying to launch VirtualBox from a terminal both Ubuntu Desktop and Ubuntu Server 12.04 x64.
VirtualBox seems to work fine, it can launch VMs and whatnot, but that error message has occurred for at least a few people. There is a launchpad bug with some more information including a strace here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virtualbox/+bug/1014487
I do not know if this is a problem with VirtualBox itself, or with Ubuntu 12.04.
I have attached the VBoxSvr.log from the desktop box, but I could not find any recent errors in VBoxSvr.log on the server box. Was there a different log needed? This error message occurs whenever the VirtualBox GUI is started from a terminal and occurs if a VM is started or not.

The Ubuntu bugtracker says this comes from a patch of libjpeg-turbo.
