VirtualBox fails to boot guest after guest OS reboot

Description
I have a few VMs, running in VBoxHeadless, which reboot every day for historical reasons. Sometimes one of these VMs does not boot after the restart. When this happens, the VM process fails to take screenshots of the VM display. After manually resetting the VM, the BIOS fails because it can not read from the boot medium. After restarting the VBoxHeadless process, the VM runs fine.
In the log file:
- 209:35 Guest initiates reboot, VM gets stuck
- 224:38 VirtualBox Manager trying to get a screenshot
- 224:40 RESET from VirtualBox Manager, VM fails to boot
- 224:40 POWER DOWN from VirtualBox Manager
