Guest freezes when Network Adapter is attached to different device

Taking my laptop away from my desk and returning I need to switch from using:

en1: Wi-Fi-Airport

to

en2: display ethernet

I do this going to

Devices-> Network Adapters -> Adapter 1

Select a different device under "Name:" and regularly (but not every time) the guest freezes.

Just happened again with VirtualBox 4.2.10

Virtualbox: 4.3.4 91027 Host OSX: 10.8.5 Guest: Ubuntu 12.10

The trick is that it happens intermittently...

Please reopen if still relevant with a recent VirtualBox release.
