Description
I have installed Windows 8.1 Client preview x64 and also tried to install the Guest Additions in Windows 7 compatibility mode. I know it is not supported but it is not supposed to crash the VirtualBox anyway.
Steps to reproduce:
- Create new Windows 8 virtual machine
- Use steps here https://blogs.oracle.com/fatbloke/entry/using_virtualbox_to_test_drive
- Install Windows 8.1 Client preview
- Install Guest Additions in Windows 7 compatibility mode
- Restart guest
Expected: no crash and limited funcionality
Actual:
Faulting application name: VirtualBox.exe, version: 4.2.14.0, time stamp: 0x51c45cbc Faulting module name: MSVCR100.dll, version: 10.0.40219.1, time stamp: 0x4d5f034a Exception code: 0xc000041d Fault offset: 0x000000000003c02a Faulting process id: 0x13d0 Faulting application start time: 0x01ce7441f4a10b3e Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VirtualBox.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\MSVCR100.dll
The issue is always reproducible.
