VirtualBox 4.2.16 Refuses to Install on Windows XP

Installation terminates with:

"The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatability with Windows XP. (Tell me why this testing is important. <link>)

This software will not be installed. Contact your system administrator."

And I have administrator rights...

Believe this failing installation attempt was a problem the 4.2.14 Windows host installer as well.

What happens if you click on system -> system properties -> hardware -> Driver Signing.

If it is set to Block instead of Warn this will cause your issue.

We even tried the "Run as" option and unchecked the "Protect my computer and data from unaunthorized program activity" after verifying the executable. And that did not work.

However, your advice did the trick. Set the Driver Signing options to Warn instead of Block and now back in business :) Nice catch :)
