VBoxManage controlvm freezes VM when changing intnet setting of nic

Description
When changing the "intnet" of a nic via "VBoxManage controlvm" (see below) this freezes the VM completely: the CPU load of the VM is reported as 100% and there is no way to interact with the VM anymore. This does not always happen, but happens around every 5th try.
