Description
Seems a lot of people are reporting the same issue with many different types of host, guest and hardware configurations. When attaching a USB 2.0 Webcam to a Windows 7 guest OS, I get a black screen (no image) from the webcam.
Host: Mac OSX 10.8.4 Guest: Windows 7 SP1 32-bit (Windows 7 default settings provided by VirtualBox, 1 CPU) VirtualBox: 4.2.16 /w the corresponding expansion pack and guest additions.
Verified USB 2.0 enabled on guest
All other USB device types appear working (mouse, storage, smart phone)

This is a duplicate of https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/242
VirtualBox 4.3 implements an experimental webcam passthrough: https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch09.html#idp57489856
It should solve the problem with host webcams in the guest. It works on Mac OS X 10.8 too.

Sunlover, this issue has been happening to me because of the webcam passthrough. It did not do so prior to that.
I too have this Issue. Black webcam feed, no picture. Win 7 Host, Lubuntu 12.04 Guest. Guest additions installed. Webcam is Logitech c910
Please Oracle this is a long outstanding problem with many people interested in a fix. If you need any logs please request.
