Description
Hi,
I've remarked that with latest VirtualBox there's a major memory leak with at least the following apps in a Win8 guest :
- Warcraft 3
- Settlers : legacy of kings
Basically Virtualbox usage rockets up to something like 6 GB of RAM and it almost crashes the host.
VM Details :
- Windows 8 32 bits
- 2 CPU allocated
- 2 GB RAM allocated
Host details :
- Ubuntu Saucy AMD64
- AMD Phenom x4 9850
- 8 GB RAM
- NVidia GeForce 660 Ti w/ 2GB RAM and NVidia driver 319.

Looks like this occurs with ANY 3D app. Open and close them, and observe the memory usage which always increases.
With Settlers Legacy of Kings this is much easier to see, but when a 3D app is closed resources are not deallocated.
And this is noticeable with apps that eat something like 128MB or 256MB of VRAM.
For Settlers Legacy of Kings you can find out a demo (in French) there : http://www.clubic.com/demo-jeux-video-1334-0-.html

We think we fixed the memory leak. Could you verify? Use this build and also update the Guest Additions. Thank you!

Hi,
As my host is Ubuntu Saucy 64 bits, could you please make a .deb build for it so that I could test ?
Thanks,

Here is the requested test build. Please also update the Guest Additions. Thank you!

Hi,
Tested with the build you've provided.
Looks like there's still something which takes up some megabytes from time to time and never releases them, but I'm not sure it's related to 3D support, I need to do some further investigating. (Or at least this occurs when you start a 3D app, close it, start the next one and so on).
Anyway this is much better than it was previously.
Thanks !

I will close this ticket as VBox 4.3.4 was released. If you experience another leak, please open a separate ticket.
