How to reproduce:

  • From a CentOS 3.0 mirror, download the i386 boot.iso CD-ROM.
  • Inside VirtualBox, boot from the boot.iso CD-ROM.
  • Install CentOS 3.0 over the Internet.
  • Once the install finished, unmount the CD-ROM and boot the SMP kernel.
  • Result: VirtualBox reports a critical error.
