VM 4.3.4 keyboard not working in ubuntu 13.10

Description
I am using windows 7 32 bit as my host with Ubuntu 13.10 as the guest. Though my laptop keyboard isn't working which means that I cant complete the set-up. I've tried to use a external keyboard with out any luck. I cant get 4.3.6 as it says that it is interrupted. Can any one help ?

What do you mean by 'is not working'? If you start an Ubuntu guest, does the guest see any keyboard events when the VM window is focused?
