Description
When using VirtualBox on a Linux host with a Windows XP guest, I am hearing severe distortions when playing a sine wave (using a sweep is best for debugging such issues) in the guest (well, my ears are not good enough to hear it for usual music). Also analysing the resulting wave data (by recording on the host) shows severe distortions in the FFT view.
This can be reproduced using the alsa and the pulseaudio backend.

my sound is choppy as well with an Ubuntu host (8.04.1) using alsa for both XP and ubuntu guests. i currently have vbox 1.6.6. each guest has the guest additions installed.
i have only tried simple audio playback. if anyone can suggest a test i can run that could provide additional information, let me know.
My audio is also quite choppy with a Ubuntu Linux 8.04.1 host and Windows Vista guest with VirtualBox 1.6.4. Especially noticeable to me when playing music. I have not always had this issue. I'm using the PulseAudio sound server with the VM.
