Description
Hi,
I've a Dell inspiron 5530 with a dock; 2 monitprs (VGA+DVI) are plugged on the dock. The laptop monitor is off. I have Windows 7 and my guest is a Xubuntu 13.10.
When I remove the laptop from the dock and switch to the laptop monitor all is working fine (VBox switch to single monitor).
When I replug my laptop on the dock, VBox freeze and I need to kill the process.
I've VBox 4.3.10 and the latest guest tools are installed on my ubuntu (I've also the same bug with previous versions).
Best regards

I experienced the same issue with recent VirtualBox versions, e.g. 5.1.18.
I have 3 monitors connected using Dell USB 3.0 dock and when the power goes off or USD dock disconnected, then VM crashes. Both host and guest are Win7.

I have a similar issue, and found a workaround.
In my case it's seems that it's not related to multiple displays, but to sound. My monitor is connected via displayport, and my monitor is also my default sound device.
Workaround is to disable sound in guest. I'm using my virtual environment for development, so in my case this is acceptable.
