Description
I installed the guest services on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Beta 2 and noticed that the interface was lagging. I checked the System Settings / Software & Updates / Additional Drivers and see InnoTek Systemberatung GmbH: Virtual Guest Service 'This device is not working.'
I'm using Ubuntu 13.10 (up to date) as the Host OS.

Actually, it appears that enabling 3D acceleration in the VM settings has fixed the problem. You can close unless this wasn't intended.

Well, it is suppoesd to also work with 3D acceleration disabled in the VM settings, therefore I will keep this ticket open.

Actually I mis-read. Recent Ubuntu guests are indeed slow with 3D disabled but that's normal and we can't change much there.

I face this issue as well, host: windows 8.1, guest ubuntu 14.04, Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 2. no matter if 3d acceleration is enabled or disabled, the Updates / Additional Drivers > InnoTek Systemberatung GmbH tells: Virtual Guest Service 'This device is not working
The Guest Services install process produced no errors at all and I restarted the virtual machine after installation of the guest services.
