host-side always-on-top modal window affects grabbed mouse pointer
Reported by: | Mihai Hanor | Owned by: | |

Guest type: | all | Host type: | Windows |
Description
Host: Windows 7 SP1 x64 Guests: Windows 7 SP1 x64, Windows XP SP3 x86, Lubuntu 13.10 x86
To reproduce, disable Mouse Integration.
Open the host-side always-on-top modal window, put it in front of the VM window. The modal window should be smaller than the VM window. Click inside the guest to grab the mouse pointer and move the pointer from the top, down, and from the bottom, up, trying to "hide" the pointer under the host modal window. Depending on the position of the VM window, in regard to the host screen and the position modal window, the lower or the upper limit of the modal window become a barrier, the guest temporarily looses the grabbing of the pointer, the host pointer reappears and it can't move in the direction you are trying to move it. If you interact with the host modal window, by clicking it, the guest looses the grabbing of the pointer, for good.
Having Guest Additions doesn't change anything. I'm not sure if it's a VirtualBox issue. You can use a Autohotkey script to create the required window on the host (see the attached file).
