Description
i tried to attach mouse USB version 2 to guest OS win xp sp3 several times but it does't work. it kept telling the same exact error message below:
" failed to attach the USB device MOON AND [0010] to the virtual machine...
USB device 'MOON AND' with UUID {6848f23b-ee28-41b8-8494-9f57ba8a3e47} is busy with a previous request. please try again later.
Details: Result Code: E_INVALIDARG (0x80070057) Component: HostUSBDevice Interface: IHostUSBDevice {173b4b44-d268-4334-a00d-b6521c9a740a} Callee: IConsole {8ab7c520-2442-4b66-8d74-4ff1e195d2b6} "
i was able to attached USB keyboard & other USB device succesfully but not the said mouse
WHAT I WANNA DO is to have an ability to use 2 computer monitors (1 is the main, the other one is extended), 2 keyboards & 2 mouses simultenously / at the same time (virtually 2 computers but just 1 motherboard / system unit
i was able to do that / i was able to attached both the said USB mouse & USB keyboard (/ other USB devices) with vbox 4.2.0 r80737 in ubuntu 10.04 (lucid) (kernel linux 2.6.32-26-generic GNOME 2.30) not runnin in wine http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wine_(software)
i dunno if this is a bug or something but...
I did the ff steps mentioned below but none of them worked:
- tried other version/s of windows vbox eg VirtualBox-4.3.8-92456-Win, VirtualBox-4.2.0-80737-Win other old versions
- did "disable mouse integration" then reattach
- used other vbox guest OS eg lupu-528JP linux, win 7 ultimate
- updated windows 7 to service pack 1
- tried in motherboard's built-in USB port and the USB extension (no problem in any USB ports, the said mouse works in host OS)
- tried USB version 1 & 2 (no USB version 3 available)
- reinstalled win7
- reinstalled mouse driver in device manager
- reinstalled vbox
- just deleted UpperFilters in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{36FC9E60-C465-11) CF-8056-444553540000} as one of the solution in some case/s as mentioned in https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=43541&p=195871#p195973 since i'm not using an AMD processor, since it doesn't show the ff: AMD USB Filter Driver (even did "show hidden devices" in device manager), usbfilter string in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ & %system32%\drivers\usbfilter.sys
- did "enable USB controller" and filtered the said mouse
SPECS:
- Host OS: win 7 ultimate 32 bit
- Guest OS: win xp sp3
- VirtualBox-4.3.10-93012-Win
- RAM: 2 GB
- Processor: Intel Pentium D 3Ghz 2 cores, 2 logical processors hardware ID: ACPI\GenuineIntel_-_x86_Family_15_Model_6
- USB mouse brand name: cd-r king. per device manager; device description: HID-compliant mouse hardware ID: HID\VID_13EE&PID_0001&REV_0010
- non-built-in AGP video card: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series. per device manager; hardware ID: PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_944C&SUBSYS_15311462&REV_00
i havent done the ff steps below but i dunno if there're going to work (pls tell me if it's really gonna work or no):
- other mouse brands
- mouse driver update (if any)
- install vbox in vista / other windows version / edition
- extension package (i'm not even sure how to use this)
- USB version 3 expansion card (since motherboard doesn't have built-in one)
pls help

Please reopen if still relevant with a recent VirtualBox release.
ADDITIONAL NOTE/S:
i'm not sure if this would help but my problem was solved by doing something with a non-vbox hypervisor "vmware workstation" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VMware_Workstation
i've got the same problem when i first used the vmware workstation but after doing some steps in vmware's support website http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1033435 (adding some script to the configuration file), i was able to attach the USB mouse to it's guest OS.
i know vmware is a different thing but i dunno if there's similar way with vbox but i wish i can attach the USB mouse with win-host vbox / i prefer to use vbox than vmware since vbox's base package is free of charge to use / copy per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VirtualBox where it said about virtual box license: "Base Package: GNU General Public License version 2 (Optionally CDDL for most files of the source distribution), "Extension Pack": PUEL"
