Unexpected window size when MenuBar and StatusBar are set to be invisible

Description
I use the following command to remove MenuBar and StatusBar for all my virtual machines.
VBoxManage setextradata global GUI/Customizations noMenuBar,noStatusBar
When I resume a windows VM, both toolbars are really gone, but there is still two placeholder of both toolbar there. I have to manually press Host+A
to resize the windows every time. It is really annoying. I noticed it works fine for a Linux guest VM, but does not work for all my Windows guest VM (including XP/W7/W8).
The issue troubles me since a very long time. I tried many vbox major updates, but the issue is still there. So I decided to report it.
One more thing: Usually I disable the toolbars (also mini toolbar) to get more screen space. Sometimes I still need to access some commands. When I press Host+Insert
, I can only access the first menu, but not able to access the other three menu. I have to remember all shortcuts of the commands. It is not quite user friendly. I'd suggest show all menus, when I right click on the VM title or when I press Host+Insert
.

Hello qxu.
Could you please check if following test-build fixes your issue with disabled menu/status bars?

Sorry for late reply, the download seems to be removed already. I found a way to reproduce the problem: It will NOT happen, if you choose to shutdown a VM properly. But you will see empty toolbars, when you close VM by press Host+Q
and then choose Save the machine state
. I confirm it can be reproduced on all my VMs (Debian, CentOS, WinXP, Win7, Win8)

Could you please test if that still happens with latest VBox version?
Thanks in advance!
