VM restore on macintosh host fails in full screen mode

Description
When restoring a VM (Windows and Linux guests) in full screen mode on Mac OS X 10.9.3, a system sound is played (the one sounding like a glass) and the VM is restored in a large window instead of full screen mode. The desktop of the guest seems to stay at full screen size and pressing the full screen keyboard shortcut restores full screen mode.
The log file has a line containing NSWindowDidExitFullScreenNotification, which appears to happen spontaneously, however this is not the reaction on a user request, but happens without invitation.
This behaviour was not present in 4.2.18. I shortly tried 4.3.0 and went back to 4.2.18 after having serious stability issues, so I cannot tell about the versions between that and 4.3.12.

Please reopen if still relevant with a recent VirtualBox release.
