Can not complete installation of latest SteamOS as a guest on an Ubuntu host

Description
At a point where I need to get to a guest Steam OS login prompt by pressing control + alt + F2 (function key 2), with the mouse cursor in the guest window, that key combination is NOT picked up by the installing guest, but is picked up by the host operating system (Ubuntu 14.04) and I get a login prompt for the host instead of the guest. I have not found a workaround and it seems that I cannot complete the install of Steam OS as a guest with that step.
