#13574 new defect
VirtualBox keeps resizing the guest to 1 screen
Reported by: | mariolino | Owned by: | |

Component: | other | Version: | VirtualBox 4.3.18 |
Keywords: | Cc: | ||
Guest type: | Linux | Host type: | Windows |
Description
Since updating to VB 4.3.16 and 4.3.18 from 4.3.12 it is impossible to resize the guest operating system to more than 1 screen.
I run Windows 7 and I have 3 screens and I have enabled Auto-Resize Guest Display.
It is possible to drag the bottom right corner of the guest window, but as soon as it is released there are some flickering and the window is resized to be as width as 1 screen. The guest OS display is internally of the size I resized to, but there is a horizontal scrollbar.
The guest OS is Fedora 19 fully updated.
Guest OS additions are installed.
As soon as I downgradeto 4.3.12 the problem goes away and it is 100% reproducible with 4.3.16 and 4.3.18. I have never tried 4.3.14.
I have a NVIDIA NVS 310 card.

Hi Oracle,
is there any news on this bug report.
I have tried yet again to uninstall VB, delete everything under my home folder .VirtualBox, delete all the existing guests and recreate a new one. All the correct Guests are installed, but the results is *always* the same.
Any version > 4.3.12 (including 4.3.20) cannot resize the guest desktop to more than 1 host screen.
What else do I need to provide to have someone look into this issue?
Regards.

1 more detail:
All the above is when "Adjust Window Size" is ticked.
If it is not ticked, then the host window is resizable to any size, but of course the gues os does not follow.
So if I untick it, resize the host window to 2 screens, then as soon as I tick it, the *host* window is resized back to 1 screen width. The guest display sometimes is resized, other times stays the same and requires scrollbars.

All I can do right now is confirm that this is the currently implemented behavior, and that the change was made with 4.3.16. The intention was to guarantee that windows are never completely off screen, which is obviously not exactly what the code does now.
