Description
Hi,
I've seen this in recent Virtualbox versions (up to 4.3.20), on 2 different HOST machines :
- HP EliteBook 820
- Asus Vivobook S200E-C337H
Both machines having USB 3.0 physical HW.
...Running different Linux HOST distros:
- Fedora Core 21 (HP)
- Arch Linux with latest updates (Asus)
"Virtualbox extensions" of the latest version installed on both.
On both machines, trying to start a guest VM of ANY OS (Linux, Windows, FreeBSD...), from virtual HD or live media, causes Virtualbox to crash immediately as soon as "USB 2.0" support is active.
Disabling "USB 2.0" support immediately fixes the issue (at the price of USB 2.0 support :-(
This is 100 % reproductible on both machines.

It's done as part of the update check. Try to execute it manually from the GUI menu.

Please reopen if still relevant with a recent VirtualBox release.
Sorry, this issue is solved when upgrading the « extension pack » to 4.3.20.
It seems to me that, in the past, VirtualBox complained when using an outdated extension pack, and proposed and upgrade. ...It seems that not anymore ?
