Linked clone not created in group subdirectory

I have several VMs in a group. I create a linked clone of one of the VMs in the group. The linked clone VM appears in the group in the VirtualBox Manager GUI, but the directory containing the new VM does not appear in the group subdirectory, as I would expect it to.

Eg given virtual machines in groups (named "Beta A testing", "Beta B testing"), with both groups and directory listing like this:

I made a linked clone of "SP3 beta B", called SFX-23779. The new directory SFX-23779 (containing the logs and snapshops for the new VM) appeared under "Virtual machines", whereas I expected it to appear under "Beta B testing" for consistency with the other grouped VMs.
