Description
I just finished manually adding a serial communication port using the Add Legacy Harware option in the device manager in my Vista SP1 guest OS. The options selected were the same as those specified in the VB GUI; serial 0 on IRQ 4 I/O 03F8 using host OS serial port COM1. After closing the device manager dialog, Vista said it must reboot before changes can take effect. I clicked OK to reboot and guest never booted correctly.
I'm trying to add the serial port manually since the virtual serial port is not detected by the Vista guest OS automatically.
One curious fact I noticed was that Vista called this com port COM3 even though it used the ports and IRQ normally assigned to COM1.
I'm running VB 1.6 on Windows XP Pro SP2 host OS.
The dialog displayed when the boot failed asked me to report the .log and .png files, so here they are.
