I have upgraded to 5.0.12. During 4 hours of testing I have not seen this problem. My conclusion is that one of the subsequent releases resolved this problem. I'm recommending the ticket be closed and will open a new one if the issue surfaces again. Thanks.

Unfortunately after much additional testing the upgrade to 5.0.12 was not a definitive solution as the problem persisted. Even upgrading to 5.0.14 did not help.
However, after upgrading to 5.0.14 I tried an experiment which was largely successful. I enabled 3D video and made the maximum amount of video memory available (256 MB). Although I only use 2D in Win10 there was a very significant improvement in video performance. It still is not as good as 2D in Win7, but it is much better than just 2D alone. This suggests that there is a defect with the 2D video driver for Win10.

I would like to see at least a VBox.log file of such a VM session.
