Description

Hi there,

I'm having problems to install Windows 7 on VirtualBox under Windows 10 x64 home.

Whenever I run the .iso image through all the boot process, It gives me a message saying there are missing CD/DVD device drivers. If I try to run the setup.exe under Windows XP (on the Virtual Machine), two messages appears, saying "The application or DLL D:\Sources\SPWIZENG is not a valid image for Windows. Compare with the installation disc" and "autorun.dll could not be loaded or is corrupted. Setup cannot continue. Error code is [0xC1]".

Before this, I was trying to install Windows XP SP3 and the installation was giving me a blue screen informing a problematic hard disk and asking to execute the CHKDSK. It stopped after I changed the the hard disk and CD/DVD controllers to IDE (It was SATA before). I could complete the installation.

The Win7 drivers missing and setup.exe problems persists even after I changed the HD and CD/DVD controllers from SATA to IDE.

On the VMWare Workstation 12 Player (a non-Oracle product) the XP blue screen's also just stopped after I changed the CD/DVD controller to IDE. It was replaced by another screen saying no HD present or undetected by the installation. I couldn't change the HD controller from SCSI to any other, so the installation failed.

I could install succesfully the Windows 7 and XP on real computers (DELL Optiplex and Dimension [Pentium 4]) using the same burned discs I used to make the .iso images. I also installed succesfully Windows98 SE on VirtualBox without change any option (IDE controller for HD/CD/DVD).

So, what is happening? Thanks.
