Host networking not working with 100mb interface on Fedor 8 64bit host

Description
host networking is not functional on fedora 8 x86_64 with a WinXP guest which has the PCnet-FAST III vNIC or if the intel Pro/1000 MT Desk is set to 100M Full. Only the Intel set to a Gig Full is functional, but the interface is very talkative on the net.
Also if you have Virt regiester enable and the Virt kernel modules loadaed. the vboxnet kernel driver will cause the bridging driver to core. I did not capture the output from dmesg, but this is easily recreated.
