EFI guests hang during boot and VirtualBox reads from hard drive at full speed

Description
I can only replicate this issue on EFI guests. I've tried both a Ubuntu Trusty and a Windows 10 guest. Both display this behaviour. At some point (usually during boot, but sometimes after), the guest seems to hang. When I run iotop on the host, I can see the VirtualBox process for that guest is reading something at 200-300 MB/s. No idea what it's reading :)
If I click 'File -> Close' in the VirtualBox window, the entire window freezes. The only way I can shut off the guest is by clicking the close button of the window and waiting for 'Oracle VM VirtualBox is nog responding'. Then I have to click Force Quit to close the window and abort the VM.
I have no issues with my BIOS guests.
Let me know if I can provide any further information.
I've attached the VBox.log of the freezing Windows EFI machine.

Closing as obsolete as there was no follow up from the reporter.
Okay, update, it seems the behaviour is happening on BIOS guests too. It just took longer than on the EFI guests for some reason.
I think the problem is related to kernel 4.6.3. I saw my Arch Linux system updated to 4.6.3 from 4.6.2 two days ago. I've just booted the 4.4 LTS kernel and the problem seems to be gone for now. Maybe put a hold on this, I'll try to gather more information when I have time.
