Mouse Pointer Issue - Constant left click
Reported by: | surreal_life | Owned by: | |

Component: | other | Version: | VirtualBox 5.1.22 |
Keywords: | mouse | Cc: | |
Guest type: | Windows | Host type: | Windows |
Description
After running Virtualbox 5.1 for a period of time (time varies) the mouse pointer will end up in a constant left click. If I hover over anything it will try to open/click. If I open the start menu the first thing hovered over is what gets opened. Restarting the VM will temporarily fix the issue however it consistently recurs. I did not see the problem pre version 5.1.

I'm sorry, but I didn't see anything irregular in the log, maybe someone else will. Did you have the problem while that log was collected? Any particular circumstances that this occurs?

Yes the issue occurred with that log. Nothing seems to cause the issue but it consistently occurs.

I have had a similar experience. I have a W7 64 bit host and have the problems with W7 32bit and XP 32bit VMs. Both machines are used for different software so nothing common in the VM. As well as it clicking on whatever I hover over on the start menu, I find that I am unable to drag windows around and I have a few other spurious mouse button related actions.
Checking with website http://unixpapa.com/js/testmouse.html I have found that clicking and holding the mouse button down sends a mouse down and an immediate mouse up code to the page when in this strange mode.
I have tried turning off mouse integration and allowing the VM to talk to USB mouse directly (using the USB drivers in the VM) but the VM continues to act in this confused state till I reboot the VM.

This is still occurring in VirtualBox 6.1 . Could you add a workaround - if you turn mouse integration off and back on, assume the mouse buttons are all up and none are in the mouse-down state?

This has happened again just now. A double-click might have initiated the problem.

Hello all,
It took me a while to figure that for me the constant left click was happening due to a bug related to 'Yakuake' application running on my host system and the interaction of this application with my Virtual Box(V6.1.32 - r149290) mouse integration.
After uninstalling(purge) yakuake from my host system (Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS) and rebooting it I also uninstalled the VB.
I only figured the cause because the same perpetual left click issue sometimes happened at the dropdown terminal provided by Yakuake, thus after reinstalling the VB, it worked like a charm!
Hopefully this may help you guys, if there are any known click-buggy applications on your host system or even in the guest OS.
Can you please re-read the Create New Ticket, where you filed the bug report? Before the actual form, there is some text that I think you may have missed. With the requirements for filing a report, like the log.
