Description
Deleting second-to-last snapshot corrupts the VM, leading to machine inaccessible - line 9 - current snapshot missing. This problem began with release 5.1.26 or before. It occurs with 5.1.28 and also with 5.2.0_BETA3, which I'm running now. Everything works fine before the snapshot deletion, including the ability to take a new snapshot. The only way I know to recover is to restore the entire VM from backup.

This problem seems to have been caused by the defect that elicited Ticket #8906. Somehow, the guest additions .iso file appeared to be mounted several times on my guest machine. I manually edited the guest machine XML file to remove all occurrences of the .iso image UUID and the DVD drive itself. The mysterious behavior I have been observing all week of guest machines suddenly becoming inaccessible seems to have disappeared. I subsequently reinstalled the DVD drive and all seems to be well (so far).
To summarize, it seems that if the .vbox XML file gets corrupted in this way, it stays corrupted and causes truly bizarre behavior. What is so confusing is that the error message talks about the disk being mounted by more than one VM, whereas in fact, the problem was that it appeared to be mounted multiple times by the same VM.
