Audio stopped working on all guests

Description
In the last couple of weeks audio stopped working on all guests. I'm running VirtualBox on Windows 7. I've tried reinstalling, reverting to earlier versions, checking the sound drivers on my host PC, using both Windows DirectSound and AC97. Nothing works. When I test the sound in the guest, it shows that everything is working, but no sound comes out on the host.
However, everything works just fine on another computer running Windows 7.
I feel like something on my PC is blocking the audio from the guest to the host.
I'm at a loss as to how to debug this.
Please help!

Please excuse my poor phrasing. I have submitted my request to the forums.
The problem is either in my host OS or in VirtualBox. Audio works just fine on my host and in my VMware guests. The only changes to my Windows 7 x64 software in recent weeks have been Windows updates. Since VirtualBox is supposed to run on Windows 7 hosts, this suggests that the problem is in VirtualBox.
Upgrading to VirtualBox 5.1.30 didn't help.

Have upgraded to VirtualBox 5.2. Have been getting help from 'socratis' on the End User Forums.
I discovered that I do get sound from my guest with either a headless start or a detachable start, but not from a normal start.
I added the log files for the normal start and the detachable start. Unfortunately, the normal start log got added twice and I don't know how to remove the second copy.

Just for completion, so to mark the thread as well, that would be https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=85063

Per the Wiki article on audio debugging, set the guest to dump audio output and enable verbose logging, and ran the guest with a normal start (no sound output).
The dumped audio output files were Ok.
Attached is the log file for this session.

Please close this ticket. The problem was a corrupted setting in the Realtek audio manager.
