Description
I have tried to create an outbound VPN PPTP connection to a remote server on both a Ubuntu (Hardy Heron) guest and Windows (SP3) guest. On Ubuntu, this fails with
LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
On Windows XP, this fails with
Error 619: A connection to the remote computer could not be established, so the port used for this connection was closed.
This host is able to connect to the VPN server.
It appears that this is due to the Virtualbox's inability to pass GRE packets through its NAT. See these forum threads for more: 1 2

Regrettably this problem still persists in virtualbox ver.2.1.0 running on Debian testing with WINXPpro client trying to access SBS using the "Connect to Small Business Server" (PPTP).
So far as I can see there is no solution to this critical problem.
