VirtualBox crashes when restoring virtual machine state

Description
I'm running a 32-bit Windows XP virtual machine on a 64-bit Windows 10 host machine. About 2 times out of 3, when I try to restore the saved state of the virtual machine, it crashes with 'unknown software exception (0x80000003)'. The place of the exception is 0x00007FF8F868D0C5. Then I have to reboot the virtual machine.

I had the same problem The solution from 18265#comment:5 worked: Activate IO-APIC (before booting from shut down state) (System Settings -> Motherboard).
