#18488 new defect
standard tty control sequences ignored in all VM's

Description
Running ubuntu 15.04 Server as well as newer Ubuntu Server VM's as well as RH and Suse within VMs. When using terminal the typical control sequences (ctrl+c, ctrl+v, ctrl+d, etc) are ignored. The ctrl portion is eaten/suppressed and the following letter is displayed. When I run showkey and repeat those the ctrl portion is ignored. On the host os showkey shows the correct values. I've even tried a different usb keyboard to make sure it wasn't that. Trying to run and work on a tty without these controls is extremely frustrating. I've been researching for almost a week now without any results. Please address? Thanks

I did post in the forums first and did the one item suggested (no resolve). And my HOST key is the 'right shift' and the key being eaten is the left ctrl key. I've attached a log from a reloading of an Ubuntu server to be perused. Hopefully it will show something. Again, this is something that start at or following version 5.2.x.
Thanks .

Could you please add a link to the forum topic? Have you tried guests with a graphical interface to see if they behave the same? You could also try some of the logging from our keyboard input wiki page<1> to see if that tells you anything more. You might want to attach the log files produced (better the whole files than snippets, though adding comments to relevant places in the log file is fine).

By the way, just to be sure, is this a standard VirtualBox package from our download server? The package type in the log file does not look quite right.

Nothing much there actually, just x-referencing them...
You did not attach a virtual machine log. And did you try asking in the forums first? This sounds like a possible use error. At a wild glance, is that control key your host key?
