Bridged Adapter

Reported by: ITxTristan Owned by:
Component: network Version: VirtualBox 6.0.12
Keywords: Cc:
Guest type: Linux Host type: Windows

Description

After updating Virtualbox from v 6.0.8 to v 6.0.12 the bridged adapter network option no longer recognizes either of my host network cards. I still have NAT internet connectivity inside the Virtual Machine as a temporary solution. The host OS (Windows 10) recognizes both my wireless card and USB to Ethernet adapter, Virtualbox does not. I am unable to select the bridged adapter option without an "invalid settings detected" warning.

I've dug through device manager and noticed that sun_vboxnetadp driver is no longer identified on the host OS. Will a driver reinstall fix this issue or am I facing a larger problem?

The bugtracker is not the place to ask questions, the forums are.

It's usually better and faster, if issues get first addressed in the VirtualBox forums, a lot more eyes there. More than 95% of the issues are resolved in the forums, which keeps the developers focusing on the bug fixes and enhancements, and there is no need for another ticket to keep track of. For example, yours is not a bug and someone from the developers has to deal with it and close it as "Invalid".

Plus a discussion and analysis on the bug tracker is going to help me, it's going to help you, and potentially a future drive-by user or two. Not so in the forums, many more tend to benefit...

Please, open a new thread in the VirtualBox on Windows Hosts section of the forums. Please be sure to mention that you came from the bug tracker and include the ticket number.

BTW, if you click on the "Attached to:" control, where it now has "Not selected", what do you get? Nothing? An empty list?

That is correct, "Not selected" is the only option I am able to select from the drop down menu. I have made a forum post and included this ticket number inside it like you requested earlier. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!

No problem, that's why we're here... ;)

Based on the discussion in the forums, a re-installation of VirtualBox fixed the problem.

This ticket can be closed as [WorksForMe] or [Invalid], your choice.
