VirtualBox guest freezes when chaning host audio interfaces

Description
The VirtualBox Ubuntu guest may freeze / (GUI hangup) when the audio in a guest is in use and an audio interface changes on the Windows 10 host.
Tested with multiple Ubuntu guest versions 18.04 up to 21.04.
Users reported the same issue when connecting USB audio devices (like bluetooth).

All VirtualBox versions since 6.0.6 are affected as this issue was already reported in https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=93705 30 June 2019.

Please let me know what I can do to provide more information for the developers.
Update: Also reproducible with VirtualBox 6.1.22 and corresponding guest additions. See attached logs in RAR or ZIP.
