#21123 new defect
Virtual machine crashes while installing the Guest addons

Description
I've just installed v7.0, however, while installing the guest additions, the machine crashes.
Specifically:
- I was using a machine created with v6.1; in general, it works fine also on 7.0 - the crash happens specifically while installing the guest additions
- The host is Ubuntu 20.04 (with a 5.19 kernel), the guest is Windows 10
- I've enabled 3D acceleration on the host, and set 256 MB of video memory
- The machine crashes when the video blips for a moment (I presume that in that moment, the guest O/S is switching the video driver)
- There is nothing seemingly relevant in the VB log, however, the crash is visible in the syslog (attached)

Verified on another machine - Ubuntu 22.04 with a different CPU/GPU (but still both AMD), and it also crashes.

Sorry to inform you, that this is a well-known issue from the beta. I described it and the current solution in this topic in the beta forum.
Long story short: you can't update the GA from version 6 to version 7 as it used to work with previous versions. At least you see some troubles with video driver. So you have to uninstall the old GA first, then reboot, and then install the new ones. Some of these operations requires being in safe mode, because the uninstallation of the video drivers also crashes the VM.
The good news for the release: yes, the loading of the video driver still crashes the VM at the GA installation. But after the new start, everything is at least installed, including the new video driver.
I put no logs here, because all the logs are already in the forum topic.
