Virtualbox 6.1.40 won't let me click and drag to select text

Description

I put this under drag and drop, but it might be other.

When I try to drag to select, the cursor remains where I click. It then doesn't allow the selection of text. It kinda seems like maybe the click turns into a click then a quick (very very short) pause and then another click.

My machine is win10, Edition Windows 10 Pro Version 22H2 Installed on ‎12/‎15/‎2021 OS build 19045.2130 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4180.0

my VB is win2k, version 5.0 (build 2195, service pack 4) memory available to windows 171,504

Workaround. Reinstalled 6.1.38, issue does not occur.

I'm experiencing a similar problem after ugrading to v6.1.40.

When using a form designer (Programming IDE) I can not drag, move, or size any components on the form.

Reinstalling and reverting back to v6.1.38 solved the problem.

My host machine is a Win10 Pro 21H2 19044.2130
My VB is Win7 version 6.1 build 7601 SP1

Likely a duplicate of #21139. Could you please check if selecting PS/2 mouse in VM settings fixes the issue?

@galitsyn

For me, when using the PS/2 mouse setting, the problem disappears indeed.

I noticed the same issue as reported here, but in the Windows Explorer, where it doesn't allow me to draw a selection rectangle by dragging. It only works when I change the "USB Tablet" pointing device option to "PS/2". This issue appeared recently when I upgraded to VirtualBox 6.1.40.

Heisenbug.

Thank you for checking. Closing as a duplicate. We will restore previous pointing device behavior in the next 6.1 release.
