Hi thehardgamer,
You are using outdated VirtualBox (6.1.30) and Guest Additions (6.0.0). Do you see this issue if you update both host part and Guest Additions to (the current latest version) 6.1.40? Do you see the issue with VirtualBox 7.0.2?
Note, if guest is running Wayland environment, it is not yet supported.

Sorry, there was a mistake from my end and i had uploaded the wrong logs, i have uploaded the new logs. I have just installed ubuntu 22.10 fresh, no guest additions

Ok, I can confirm that the hang and crash is gone if i disable 3d acceleration on wayland.

Re-enabled 3d acceleration, and switched to Xorg instead of wayland, followed same process, right clicked in nautilus and vm instantly crashed(aborted), attaching the logs named CRASHub2-2022-11-16-15-09-40.txt

Hi thehardgamer,
From the attached log:
00:00:13.389816 Host RAM: 15777MB (15.4GB) total, 1761MB available ... 00:00:13.571319 RamSize <integer> = 0x00000000b5800000 (3 045 064 704, 2 904 MB, 2.8 GB) ... 00:00:33.946509 VMMDev: Guest Additions information report: Version 6.0.0 r127566 '6.0.0'
You are trying to run 2.8 GB VM on a host which has only 1761MB free RAM (similar to the 2nd log). Crash is expected. Note, you have Additions 6.0.0 installed in guest.

I have actually been facing this issue since the moment 22.10 beta builds were released, I have tested it for this issue extensively with up to 8GB ram, 52mb of display memory and with mainline kernel from ubuntu's ppa and 7.0.2 guest additions, the same issue appears again with 3d acceleration on, I will provide logs with guest additions 7.0.2 and 8gb ram in a while.

Crash logs, allocated memory 7.5GB, Guest additions 7.0.2 installed, Host RAM: 15777MB (15.4GB) total, 8854MB (8.6GB) available, attaching the logs hereby.

Thank you for the new log. Do you observe this issue if you install matching Additions (VBox 6.1.x + GAs 6.1.x and/or VBox 7.0.x + GAs 7.0.x)? In general, installed GAs' major and minor version expected to be the same as a host part. But what you are observing now smells like a bug to me.

I can speak for 6.1.x as of now, I have tried the following setup and could reproduce the crash: With 3d Acceleration ENABLED, Crash: Yes-> 1) virtualbox 6.1.30 with guest additions 6.1.40 and 7.0.2 2) virtualbox 6.1.40 with guest additions 6.1.40 and 7.0.2 and 6.0.0 3) Happens in both, wayland and xorg
With 3d Acceleration DISABLED, Crash: No, minor artifacts like upon right click, the top most item is highlighted even if the cursor isnt on it, but there are no imminent hangs or crashes, UI does get a bit sluggish but i guess its because of 3d stuff.
I can't test with 7.0.2 application, since i am not allowed to upgrade major version on the current system.

Just tested KUbuntu 22.10, the one with KDE, no crashes even with 3d acceleration On, this issue seems to be present only on vanilla ubuntu.

Tested Manjaro Gnome version with default gnome 42, didnt had any crashes. Updated Manjaro, it updated gnome to 43, and then VM started crashing left and right. Steps to reproduce: Install manjaro gnome, update it to gnome 43, use it normally, will crash any instant.
It feels like these crashes have something to do with gnome 43. Attaching logs hereby.
