#21440 new defect
I/O errors with virtio-scsi
Reported by: | csillag | Owned by: | |

Component: | virtual disk | Version: | VirtualBox-7.0.6 |

Guest type: | Linux | Host type: | Linux |
Description
I have just created a new guest, and to improve performance, I have chosen the virtio-scsi for the storage controller.
The host I/O cache is disabled.
Under medium IO load, I started to get I/O errors on the console of the guest within 15 minutes.
I'm attaching the log (which doesn't show any errors as far as I can tell), and a screenshot which shows the guest console.
I am aware that some related bugs were allegedly fixed for 7.0.4, but I'm on 7.0.6, and still see it.

Who says that virtio-scsi is actually improving performance? I'm at least not aware of the fact. If this is really true then we should be adjusting the defaults at least for reasonably recent Linux distro versions.
