Could you please add an appliance signing feature? Alternatively, I suggest to deprecate the feature.
It's a weird feature. VirtualBox cannot sign appliances. Nobody in the forums knew how to create signed VirtualBox appliances or had seen any signed appliances.

So in most cases all it does it causing unnecessary confusion.
As a quick and easy fix you could simply remove the message Application is not signed. from the VirtualBox host software GUI and skip the check.
