When USB devices are connected, VM won't shut down

Description
I'm using a Windows XP SP3 VM. Within the VM I need to connect two different USB devices. So, I enabled the USB-controller the VM settings and set it to "USB 2.0 (OHCI + EHCI) Controller" since USB 3.0 isn't supported by Windows XP. The VM works fine but as soon as I connect one of the two USB devices to the VM I am not able to shut down the VM properly anymore. I must kill it inside the task manager and the VM state will show up as "Aborted" after that.
How to reproduce:
- Set up a Windows XP SP3 VM with the USB-Controller enabled (USB 2.0)
- Install the latest VM Guest Tools if not already done so
- Map a USB device to the VM and make sure it's properly connected
- Try to shut down the virtual machine

The problem is resolved in VirtualBox 7.1.4. There's no need to process this further in my opinion.
It seems to be the same problem I have.
After connecting a usb device (hasp or regular usb stick), windows xp guest and windows 10 guest does not see the device (nothing happens).
Then when I disconnect the device from the virtual machine the entire guest virtual machine hangs (every time with hasp). (hasp works fine with windows box)
After restarting (kill) the virtual machine, starting the guest machine with the connected usb device ends with a black screen (nothing more).
related virtualbox 7.1.0 and 7.1.2 with guest add-on and extension package (usb 1 and usb 2), host system debian 12 / devuan 5 64bit
