Description ¶
It might be a bit of a complicated scenario, but I think VirtualBox should nonetheless have protected me somehow from this rather than causing a BSOD on Win10.
Steps to reproduce:
Storage settings in Expert mode:
- Controller: IDE
- Add a optical drive to the controller
- Select as .iso filename for the optical drive a .iso file on a USB hard drive
- I had D:\debian-12.10.0-amd64-netinst.iso there
USB settings in Expert mode:
[x] Enable USB Controller
(x) USB 3.0 (xHCI) controller
USB Device Filters: [x] The USB hard disk where that .iso file is also on
Because the USB drive was given to the guest at startup of the guest, while VirtualBox was also trying to provide the .iso file as boot option (that is on the USB drive, that is being given to the guest, at startup of the guest), I got a BSOD of Win10. Forcing me to reboot the host (which had crashed due to that BSOD).
