Screen formatitng problem after exiting FDisk DOS 6.22

Windows XP-Home host. Created a VBox for DOS to later install win3.1. Using MS-DOS 6.22 FDisk I created an active Primary DOS partition using all of the 1G space and exit FDisk. Screen dropped to what looked like 240 x 320 big grainy characters. All text and commands from then on were only at the top line of the screen. It appears no CR or LF were being issued. Also CLS did not CLear Screen.
